 Call for Papers

 Prime Minister¡¯s Initiative for International Education 2 (PMI2) Special Issue ¨C Enhancing Employability, Entrepreneurship and Global Citizenship in International Higher Education

 Internationalisation and knowledge transfer are significant priorities for the education sectors in developed and developing countries, not least because of their contribution to modernisation and enhanced innovation, competitiveness and quality of life. In relation to China and the UK, achieving internationalisation and knowledge transfer can be facilitated by strategic academic partnerships between the universities in both countries..

The Journal of Chinese Entrepreneurship, published by Emerald Insight, UK, aims to give a broad international coverage of subjects relating to entrepreneurship in China. Emphasis will be placed on the publication of articles which critically analyses real situations in terms of Chinese entrepreneurship.

Scope

Based upon the premises of the University of Salford PMI2 Project, this Special Issue will publish quality papers from academics and researchers within PMI2 partners and beyond with a particular focus on employability, entrepreneurship and global citizenship among partners between China and UK.  The objective of the Special Issue is to identify best practice in these areas with the facilitation of the British Council and to address crucial issues of these areas in theory and in practice.

The Journal takes an interdisciplinary approach towards the changing contours of Chinese entrepreneurship research and training and acquaints the readers with the latest trends in the theory and practice of entrepreneurship in China. It publishes high quality original papers, documenting new areas of exploration, new methodologies being employed, conceptual discoveries being made and innovative experiments being attempted with a view to expanding the frontiers of our knowledge and insight.

Coverage

The Journal publishes original papers, literature reviews, empirical studies, theoretical frameworks, case studies and book reviews or general views. It is envisaged that the majority of articles will be empirical but there is also be scope for review articles and contributions that focus on developments in the research of Chinese entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Journal is aimed at an international audience. It will cover qualitative and quantitative research in all areas of China business, entrepreneurship, innovation and entrepreneurial marketing and governmental and industrial policies that inhibit or stimulate entrepreneurship and innovation with a focus on PMI2 strategic themes of building strategic alliances in higher education between China and UK. More specifically, coverage will be devoted to important topics as follows, but are not limited to:

  • Government policy on entrepreneurship
  • International entrepreneurship
  • Small and medium-sized enterprises
  • Family-owned businesses
  • The innovator as an individual and as a personality type
  • New venture creation and acquisitions of a growing company
  • Entrepreneurial behaviour in large organizations
  • Venture financing and entrepreneurial education
  • Minority issues in small business and entrepreneurship
  • Corporate and non-profit entrepreneurship
  • Ethics, the entrepreneur and the company
  • Entrepreneurial cooperation and networking
  • Entrepreneurial environment and cross-cultural management
  • Comparative studies of entrepreneurship and marketing issues
  • Development of the service sector and Chinese economy
  • Chinese marketing and business innovation
  • Service marketing and service innovation
  • Brand management and network innovation
  • Supply chain management and customer relationship management
  • Entrepreneurial processes
  • Risk management and venture capital

Key Journal audiences

Authors and readers are drawn from universities, government, industry, financial institutions, research organizations, professional organizations and international institutions etc. In particular, the Journal will appeal to:

  • Academics, researchers, teachers concerned with entrepreneurship, marketing and related issues (especially in business schools and university departments of management, marketing, sociology and psychology)
  • Policy makers from government departments whose objective is to promote entrepreneurial activity or involved in stimulating, managing or understanding Chinese entrepreneurship
  • Chief executives in industries and senior managers concerned with entrepreneurship, marketing and related issues
  • Entrepreneurs themselves who are engaged in activities of Chinese entrepreneurship or entrepreneurial activity in China.
